Why did you start at Billigblomst?
I started at Billigblomst because I needed a change after 8 years in supermarkets, and I knew they were planning to open a Billigblomst store in Hillerød. So, when I saw the job posting, I jumped at the opportunity.
I was hired as the cashier supervisor and started two weeks before the store’s opening in mid-October 2022. However, the management quickly realized I had some hidden talents, so I took on the responsibility for houseplants and was later promoted to Assistant Manager.
Then, I went on quite a journey. Suddenly, we found ourselves in the peak season without a Center Manager, so I took the chance and said, “Well, I guess there’s already a new Center Manager sitting here in the room.” The senior management agreed, as they had the same thought but wanted to hear it directly from me. Since then, I’ve received immense support from my colleagues – not only here in the center but also from other centers. This just goes to show the strong team spirit we have.
What has surprised you the most about starting at Billigblomst?
Considering my journey at Billigblomst, I’m truly humbled to be here today as Garden Center Manager with an amazing team that supports me 100%. When I think back to when I started on the same level as them, it really shows that there are great opportunities to grow within this company, and I’m deeply grateful for that.
Otherwise, what surprises me is how we manage to keep our prices so competitive. When I visit competitors – which I do occasionally – I often find myself saying, “Wow, that’s expensive,” or “Look at that price, we have that for half the cost.” A big shout-out to the colleagues behind the scenes who negotiate great prices and bring quality products into the store.

Build your career at Billigblomst
Why did you start working at Billigblomst?
I started at Billigblomst after finishing upper secondary school, unsure of what I wanted to do next. I was hired as a sales assistant and started out working at the checkout. From there, I moved onto the shop floor, gradually taking on more responsibility until I was given the main responsibility for the homeware department. About six months later, I was promoted to Team Leader, where I became responsible for seasonal planning and layout – and also started gaining some experience with staff management.
I worked hard, and that was recognised – today, I’m Assistant Store Manager in Aarhus, which is our largest centre in Billigblomst. I’ve also been given the opportunity to take a leadership course during working hours, to connect my practical experience with theoretical knowledge.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
I start the day by jumping straight into planning and assigning tasks. Part of my responsibility is making sure there are clear tasks lined up for the team as they arrive. From there, one hour just leads into the next – and I never really know what the day will bring!
What has surprised you the most about starting at Billigblomst?
Definitely the pace and the dynamic flow in the store. We’re incredibly busy during peak season in the spring, and it’s always exciting to feel the extra energy and pressure during those months!
