Our journey
Since the beginning of our journey in 2009, when our owner Brian Reenberg started a wholesale business selling fruit and vegetables in Aarhus, things have been moving fast. He recognized a market for quality products that everyone could afford. Brian rented a hot dog stand and ran a test weekend selling stock directly from a truck on Viborgvej. The result? Viborgvej had to be completely closed due to massive traffic – Brian had found a gap in the market!
With his 10.000 sqm space, Brian went on to open the first – and still the largest – plant center on Runetoften under the name Billigblomst. Initially, he maintained the wholesale section, where garden centers could come early and buy at low prices. But for Brian, it was important to sell to the “everyday customer,” so he cut the wholesale part to focus on expanding the business geographically.
This led to the opening of Billigblomst in Aalborg. From there, growth has been explosive – rapid expansion that has made Billigblomst locally established across Denmark.
At Billigblomst, we have an eye for a good deal and are always looking for potential new locations if the offer is right for us. That’s why we’ve opened new plant centers across Denmark in various ways. We have built our own centers from the ground up in Aalborg, Sønderborg, and Hillerød, and we have taken over existing garden centers and transformed them into Billigblomst centers in Næstved, Herning, Langeskov, and Holbæk.
We are far from finished writing the chapters of Billigblomst’s story, and we are constantly looking for the next great idea.
